Artist Statement
This is supposed to represent the difficulty that I went through this semester. I have had a lot of emotional experiences the past couple months. The cut up pieces of the plastic represent my heart not feeling whole. I used the plastic bag as my main material because of how fragile it is. It can easily be broken. The little box in the middle represents the little part of my that is still going strong. It is the focal point of the piece. It shows a heart beat made with string and ink. I cut up a regular bag to make it fit me like a shirt which makes sense because everything is supposed to be based around my chest/heart. I included the jeans to go along with the fact that I walk around every day with this feeling so it basically becomes apart of my outfit all the time. In the photos where I covered up my face with the plastic is supposed to show that these experiences messed with my head as well. The photo where my arms are crossed symbolize the attempt to protect myself from these feelings. The photo with my arms to my side acts as a representation of taking it all in, but trying to stay strong.
